Driving School in Lincoln - Driving Test (Manual / Automatic)
There are two parts to obtaining a full licence.
The Theory Test - 2 Parts:
- 1st Part: Multiple choice of 50 questions, you must obtain 43 or more correct answers to pass this section.
- 2nd Part: Hazard Perception, 14 video clips lasting approximately 1 minute. By clicking a computer mouse button you must identify a developing hazard. You need to score at least 44 to pass this section.
You must pass both parts of this theory test before applying to take a practical test.
Practical Test
On the day of your test the examiner will ask to see both parts of your licence, ie the photocard, and the green document that your photocard was attached to and your theory certificate.
After signing the examiners marking sheet you will be required to read a number plate at 20.5 meters.
You must then answer 2 show me / tell me questions (safety aspects of car controls / maintenance.)
You will then drive for approximately 40 minutes on a selected route and carry out 2 out of 4 manoeuvres and maybe an emergency stop.
To pass you must not make any serious or dangerous faults and obtain no more than 15 driving errors.
B+E Category
Are you licensed to tow a trailer or caravan? If you passed your driving test after 1st January 1997, you will now have to pass the DSA's additional B+E trailer driving test.
This comprises of a usual eye test and show me / tell me questions as for a normal test.
Drive for approximately 1 hour, during this time a coupling exercise will be carried out. A reverse manoeuvre from one bay, across into another bay will be performed and a controlled braking exercise is also included.
